a beautiful antique Uzbek silk suzani from 3rd quarter of the 19th century rural Bukhara. It has fine polychrome silk chain-stitched embroidery on a cotton ground known as Karbos. The classic floral design is beautiful. The field consists of a central medallion with diagonal vines dividing the space for further smaller medallions and flowers. The borders repeat further medallions, flowers and vines with alternating colours and intricate inner detail. The rich saturated rainbow of colours help bring out the design. It has a lovely patina. In good overall shape with some slight abrasion of embroidery and a few minor slits as expected which doesn’t distract the beauty. It is offered at a fair price. Size: 150cm x 107cm (59” x 42”).
