Kurdish Adiyaman (Semsûr) Yoruk Tribal rug 19th South-East Anatolia
Surprisingly good condition, rarely seen Adiyaman (Semsûr in kurdish) Yoruk carpet.
2nd half 19th century, manufactured by mountain nomads in Eastern Anatolia Turkey.
Typically made with greasy wool and vegetable dyes, including cochineal.
7 shades of blue, 3 large medalions. Note the selvages, very peculiar style.
a true Tribal rug probably from the kurdish populated Adiyaman (Semsûr) area in the Southeast of Turkey.
