Antique Caucasian Kasim-Usag rug of classic design with superb colour. Dated to the field 1273 (1856). www.knightsantiques.co.uk
Dated 1856.
Size: 8ft 10in x 4ft 10in (270 x 147cm).
The rug is of an early date and has drawing of a scarce form, the dye quality is excellent with very clear saturated colours.
The rug is in excellent original condition with slight even wear to most areas with good pile. The central medallions are a little lower with medium pile.
The sides have been re-bound at some time, the ends are secured. The sides and ends are taped from the reverse with cotton tape and hanging rings, it is clear that the rug has been hung for display.
There are a few very small old repairs that can only be seen from the reverse (see images).
The browns show medium corrosion, not down to the foundation.
Soft wool and a floppy handle.
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
Stock number: h-471.
