This circa 1860 Ningxia meditation mat (inv 7287) measures 2’1” xX 2’2” (64 x 67cm). It has a mustard ground with Chinese fretwork in blue in the corners. The border has a wave motif. The center medallion has four foo dogs chasing each other, two in blue and two in ivory and yellow. The rug is quartered with chrysanthemums in ivory. This rug is in excellent condition.
