Back
a fine pair of antique silk embroidered Uzbek sleeves from Afghanistan side of the border, dating to circa late 19th century / early 1900’s. The edge of the sleeves are finished with exceptionally fine cross-stitched embroidery repeating classic Uzbek motifs of repeating “s” patterns and rams horn in alternating colour combination. The upper part consists of bands of cotton fabric in various colours with intricate heart embroidery repeating in alternative colours. The fine workmanship suggest the robe it belonged to must have been a bridal one. Central Asian garments often boasted elaborate sleeves which in itself at best are textile art. In mint condition and lined with Russian floral cotton. It can be framed and hung as elaborate wall hanging. Size of each 43cm x 17cm (17” x 7”) For inquiries please email directly to: istalificollections@outlook.com.
