An excellent antique Turkoman / Turkmen silk embroidered bridal tent band known as Tunic Efli. This very early example dates around mid 19th century and is very likely attributed to the Saryk tribe but often wrongly attributed to the Tekke tribe. They pop up In the market and often in very bad condition. Seldom one sees an example like this with the fine silk embroidery in good shape and lack of severe abrasion. Also i hardly see any examples that have the original tassels on the edges as one sees in this piece. It made up of very fine silk embroidery that appears on both sides boasting a rich geometric patterns in a beautiful red and intricate details in blue, indigo, green and yellow. This is interspersed with narrow bands of yurt shaped patterns with rams horn finish. The ends are finished in a triangular shape with a diamond pattern on it. The natural colours are fantastic. The band is narrow and long and made of two pieces stitched in the middle. Other than a couple of expected edge wear and some abrasion of the black silk yarns, it is in a very good shape. This exceptional and highly collectible central Asian textile which was probably dowry piece and worthy of any top collection. Offered at a fair price. Email your questions.
