This circa 1925 Art Deco Chinese Oriental Rug measures 9’0” x 11’7” (274 x 356 cm). This rug is a fantastic color of pumpkin. i have never seen a rug in this color before. The rug is confined to only three colors. Pumpkin and two shades of blue. It is very dramatic! It has a center medallion in the form of a wreath with a large piece of foliage that is quartered and surrounded by Chinese fretwork with one leaf to the east, west, north and south of it. There are nine bats which reflect the luckiest number in Chinese astrology and symbolize good luck. They are cavorting among the foliage which consists of various renditions of sprigs of flowers, bamboo sections and wreaths. The minor border consists of two shades of blue with a pearl motif. The major border is the same color as the field with a motif consisting of vases of flowers separated by various stylizations of meandering flowers and vines. The rug is full pile. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $150.00 This is one of a pair of matching rugs.
