Back
Exquisite Kurdish pile-woven mafrash 'panel' (or 'bag-face') - from the far North West of Persia (Iran) or the far southern Caucasus - with a double medallion design in the center with multiple borders surrounding, and a wide strip of octagonal designs across the bottom that itself is fringed with a narrow kilim (pile-less) strip across the bottom. This is almost certainly a front panel from a bedding or storage bag. It has three very very small repairs that can really only be noticed from the back side (photos upon request), has medium to low pile with even wear throughout, and has been professionally cleaned. All natural dyes, wool warp and weft, size 1.20m x 0.88m (47.25” x 31.65”), made circa 1900 or before. Fantastic piece!
