a rare museum grade ancient Egyptian Coptic textiles dating from 2th-5th century. These textiles were made in Egypt by Christians of Greco-Byzantine-Roman Egypt. The Coptic Christians migrated to Europe and later their designs influenced the European textile art. This piece was probably part of a tunic. It is mounted in a glaze frame but it can be easily taken out and stretched on a canvas. For a similar piece see the collection of the met New York. We see human figures inside the vase motif. It came from an ex-German collection put together in mid 20th century. See last photo to get a sense of the large scale. size 50cm x 40cm (20” x 16”) Offered at a very good price.
