Tibetan horse trapping known as a 'takyeb'. Takyeb's were used for decorating the forehead of a horse, yak or dzo (a cross between a yak and a cow), and often seen on the lead animal/s in a Himalayan pack train (as in the example in last the image). Its design features a well executed clutch of the auspicious flaming ‘precious jewels' as the central motif, and has two simple flowers upper left and right. Made circa the 1920’s / 1930’s it has wool warp and weft, size is 23cm x 20cm (approx. 9in x 8in) and as was the common practice, it is backed by cloth - which was replaced as needed over the years when worn out from use. Other than it could use a wash, is in very good condition. Very attractively priced. (See more takyebs and other horse tack here - https://warpandweft.club/portfolio-item/other-horse-tack/)
price:  SOLD. Thank you!
