Back
mafrash side panel-- splendid colors-shahsavan or kurd,. 35 inches wide and about 17 inches high ( 89 cm x 44 cm). Design in a weft wrapping technique, similar to sumac but the colors move in diagonal lines rather than horizontal rows. Could be Kurdish because of the wool quality and the palette, but I’ve seen similar pieces listed as Shahsavan. Superior warm colors, and the harmony of the colors. The multicolored fringe at one end is a late addition—made separately and sewn on. The other end is overcast (also not original) showing slight wear. Slight wear to the designs, mainly where black is corroded in places. Contact me at rjemry@gmail.com
