Back
a very old Kurdish carpet, used too long on the floor, but potentially restorable. 76 inches x 52 inches (at widest), or 193 cm x 132 cm. Pile ranging from good areas to areas down to foundation. Main border composed of rosettes often seen in Jaf bagfaces. Bottom end complete---original flatweave warp finish, with small colored decorations. Top end is fraying into the outer minor border (about 3 rows of knots) except one corner is more-complete corner. At the sides, the selvage finish is ragged, but original weft returns mostly intact. Foundation otherwise intact except for one small hole near the center (about 0.75 x 2 in) where some warps and wefts are broken. Restoration would involve a lot of reknotting, but this seems less formidable considering the rug less than 40 knots/square inch. Pile wool is soft and shiny, and colors all natural.
