a beautiful Antique 19th century Uzbek Adras Ikat square hanging from Bokhara / Bukhara region. It is a shash rang / six colour Ikat which is of the high form of tie dye Ikat weaving because of the complex weaving skills needed to pull off so many colours in these textiles. The weave is silk warp / cotton weft adras as most very early such textiles were. The gorgeous design is of pomegranate and vines… a motif symbolising fertility and prosperity.. The natural dyes colours really bring out the design to say the least. Despite its natural age patina and some sporadic wears as seen in the photo (secured at parts), the design is not distracted by the natural age wear. It has a lovely floral cotton lining. Offered at a cheap price. Size 79cm x 76cm (31” x 30”). For inquiries please email directly to: istalificollections@outlook.com.
