Back
Scandinavian 'folk art' wedding-bed cover with thick sheep's wool backing made in Sweden in 1907. Surely a one-off hand-made village piece prepared specifically as a gift to a wedding couple whose initials appear at the top, along with the date. The back is thick undyed lustrous sheep's wool, while the black front center field is a woven wool 'blanket' with individually appliqued multicoloured circular talisman-like motifs spread throughout. Dispersed in the lighter tan coloured border strip are appliqued singular pearl-like circles also. All natural dyes, size 163m x 124cm (approx. 64in x 48.75in). Genuine one-off antique collectors piece of classic Scandinavian ‘folk art’ in very good condition.
