Ferghana ikat chapan, very early 20th century. Russian trade cloth cotton lining with striped interior binding and an external finish of blue braid. a panel has been replaced (see photographs)on the left side, probably fairly soon after the chapan was made, judging by the colour and textile quality match. Apart from this, the chapan is in excellent condition and very decorative. Length from center back: 137cm/54" Width from cuff to cuff across the shoulders:158cm/62"
