Back
Slightly over-sized Tibetan khaden, although not quite sapden size, featuring rows of window-like motifs (a very early version of Windows 95 maybe?) in a multitude of subtle colours on a lustrous wool base; a design which makes for an overall very pleasing look. a small very old repair in the very center does nothing to detract from the beauty and sense of presence this carpet has. It is a unique piece with good pile and a thick 'chunky' handle, made with mostly, if not all, natural dyes and undyed wool. Size is 155cm x 102 cm (approximately 60in x 40in), both the warp and weft are wool, and made circa 1920. (For a very similar example of this design from the early 20th century, see page 104 in the excellent book entitled Of Wool And Loom by Trinley Chodrak & Kesang Tashi, pub. 2000.) In very good condition. For more khadens please see https://warpandweft.club/portfolio-item/khadens/
