This 4th quarter 19th century Shirvan Lesghi Star Caucasian Oriental Rug #7556 measures 3’3” x 4’6” (100 x 140 cm). It has six Leshgi stars on a black ground. Exactly in the middle across the field the black is corroded to the foundation (if there is not some corrosion, it is not old). There is a tiny bit of asymmetry in the field which is composed of stars, flowers, and scampering horses all in pale green, red, natural pink and pale blue. It has three equal sized borders. The one in the center consists of flower heads combined with a semi Kufic border ala Kuba in the same Kuba rosy red. And the more i look at it …this rug is probably a Kuba. The edges have been replaced with a machine edge but the ends are finished like a Kuba. The two reciprocal borders are composed of flowers and stylized bird heads on an ivory ground. Except for the corrosion in the black and the replacing of the edges, the rug is perfect. It is full pile. The ends are complete. It is clean and ready to go. https://antiqueorientalrugs.com/product/7556-shirvan-antique-caucasian-rug/
