antique anatolian docemalti rug from the southern region of Turkiyhe. The rug has warps and wefts of wool and a lustrous pile with glowing colours. It is intact and has broad kilim ends and a most unusual overcasting which i have not encountered before. The unusual central field is surrounded by the traditional leaf design borders used in weaving from the region of Antalya. Originally there was a small ridge in the pile on the left side of the field which has been removed and stitched closed. Reference 3491. Size 143 x 121 cms., or 4ft. 9ins., x 4ft. Euros 1250.
