An antique Mahal carpet, West Persia, ca. 1900
The shaded indigo fiend with stylised polychrome herati design. Two rust-red and sandy-yellow large serrated medallions with similar design. Sandy-yellow herati spandrels. In rust red border of stylised turtle-palmettes between hooked leaf stripes.
Very nicely drawn design and very well balanced colours. This carpet she slight localised wear to the top pile in few places, barely visible otherwise good pile. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends original. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Attractive and elegant piece.
