Qing Chinese hanging, late 19th century. The fabulous peacock tands with opened tail in exceptional embroidered detail with two dragons facing each other above. The dragons are four clawed and are jointly clutching a flaming cloud band bearing an archaic symbol which may represent the peal of wisdom Chinese dragons are often found chasing. The ground cloth is a satin-like silk. Note there is some very slight fading in the silk ground near the peacock and two small tears to the right of the peacock within the floral motifs. 138 x 203 cm
