Antique Central Anatolian Konya region village prayer rug.
www.knightsantiques.co.uk
Circa 1850.
Size: 4ft 3in x 3ft 6in (130 x 106cm).
A superb example of a Konya prayer rug, the soft red central mihrab is floating on a green ground, the rug is framed by a main border in a soft 'butterscotch' colour with hooked medallions.
The rug has very soft wool and a floppy handle, there are some old re-weaves at the sides and ends, some re-piled areas to the field, all well blended and difficult to see.
Hand washed and ready for use or display. The rug would make a superb wall hanging or would be suitable for very light domestic use.
Stock Number: h-508.
