Antique Caucasian Gendje rug with wonderful folk art design.

Size: 7ft 9in x 5ft 1in (235 x 155cm).
A truly outstanding rug with classic diamond medallion design on a madder red ground. The field is filled with illustrations of the weavers daily life, there are birds, animals, men and ladies, shepherds with a flock of sheep / goats and even riders on horseback. Other tribal elements include stars to signify power and nobility. The rug is framed by an ivory ground border of typical Gendje design.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile; a rug of outstanding design and colour..... pure folk art.
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
