Size: 5ft 7in x 1ft 6in (170 x 46cm) Torba are shallow wall bags used mainly in tents or yurts for the storage of personal belongings, they were also used to decorate the sides of a camel in a wedding procession. Often only the piled face survives and the plain weave backs have been removed. This example has a variant of the well known ikat design, superb colour throughout including a good clear yellow. The torba is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile. Hand washed and ready for display. Stock Number: h-451a.
