This 4th quarter 19th century Oushak Weigerah #7765
antique Turkish carpet sampler measures 4’5” x 6’5”. This is a very rare rug. It is the only Oushak i have ever seen in a Weigerah motif. The bottom right and left corner contain the corner motifs of a large rug separated by what would be the field. The bottom border at the east and west sides contain eight pointed stars. The field designs include tobacco leafs and scorpions on a salmon ground. The upper right hand quadrant of the rug about 18” into it and 2/3 of the way down the rug contain a rendering of a border sample. The main colors are pale pink and salmon with a grey color in the left and right corners. The rug has evenly good pile a little low at the bottom end. The ends and sides are complete. The rug is clean and ready to go.
