Antique Ersari Beshir Turkmen kelleh carpet of exceptional size.

Circa 1870 or earlier.
Size: 18ft 6in x 8ft 2in (565 x 250cm).
This exceptional tribal carpet originates from the border regions of norther Afghanistan. The abrashed indigo blue field is covered in stylised floral designs in red, outlined in yellow and ivory. The field glimmers in various shades of blue as sunlight passes across it. The wide border is of the most well known Beshir designs. a truly outstanding carpet with a wonderful array of colour.
Excellent condition with very slight even wear and good thick pile, as can be seen in the images there is a faded repair to the lower kilim end.
Hand washed and ready for use.
