The colours are synthetic for the most part but of course there is a natural black dyed silk, and one of the reds maybe a natural dye or at the very least mixed with a natural dye. Tashkent or Pskent area. Central Asia. Circa 1920. Very good condition. Cm. 70 x 220 (2'3" x 7'3"). Such an embroidery served one purpose, as a "sofreh" or eating cloth place on the floor upon which plates of food were served to people seated along the lenght of the textile.
