Ottoman turban cover, 19th century. These were used to cover turbans when not in used to protect them from dust and other elements. The embroidery is in silk and metallic thread on linen. The articulation of the flowers is life-like and give the impression of motion as if they are dancing to an unheard rhythm. There are a couple small, discrete areas of well done patching. 88 x 93 cm.
