antique salor turkoman carpet which dates from the second half of the 19th century. The typical repeated gul throughout the centre panel is that used by Salor weavers. The pile is low and the overcasting replaced. There are several small reweaves, however the overall condition is good and reflects the substantial age of the piece. The weave pattern is Salor and is featured in the close up photo of a Salor trapping featured as plate 61 in the text book "Dictionary of Oriental Rugs" by Ivan Neff and Carol Maggs. Reference 3541. Size 340 x 190 cms., or 11ft. 2 ins. x 6ft. 8 inches. Euros 2250
