An excellent Antique Ersari Turkoman / Turkmen silk embroidered talismanic textile dating to 19th century. This magnificent piece reflects the best of Turkoman embroideries. Such fine silk embroideries were made to serve the superstitious beliefs of the Turkoman cultures and were often either rectangular, square or triangular shaped. They would be attached to garments, trappings of other textiles and were thought to have protective powers. The dazzling archaic design consists of two rows of bird motifs in flight rendered in red, each boxed with a green outline with a rich blue and yellow inner detail. It is finished with a border of repeating triangles in red, blue, yellow and two shared of green. It is fully embroidered and stitched in direction of the design, giving the motifs a three dimensional look. The use of primary colours are just magnificent. In excellent condition with floral printed cotton back. a very rare textile art that of is highest calibre. Size:: 15cm x 8cm (6.5" x 3”).
