Antique Baluch rug, by the Mahdad Khani tribe of the Ferdows region of Eastern Persia.
Circa 1890.
a good Baluch rug with one of the less common designs, two rows of eight large Tekke Turkmen guls on a rich aubergine coloured ground. The large scale design between the guls is typical of these rugs. The border is a well drawn and features the Turkmen 'kochak' design. a very good Turkmen inspired Baluch rug.
The rug is in good condition with even wear, medium pile, very soft wool, there is some wear / damage to the side bindings. (Reflected in the price).
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
