Antique Baluch prayer rug by the Yaqoub Khani sub tribe of the Timuri, with box design on a scarce aubergine coloured ground.
Circa 1880 or earlier.
This is a very unusual and possibly rare Timuri / Baluch prayer rug, the well known box design is on a very rich aubergine coloured ground. The hand placements are of a tree or shrub design. Note the original weft work decorated end panel at the lower end.
The rug is in fair condition with wear in places and medium / low pile. The rug has no repairs and is in original condition. This is a collectable rug that would make a superb wall hanging.
The rug is ready for use or display.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
