a complete bag so called Mafrash or Torba, This authentic turkmen item is one of the most searched by scholars and carpet collectors due to the rarity and the mysterious and fascinating patterns of the “gul” ( flower) often recognized with the name of “earthman gul” pattern. Despite is a very small rug, in the past used during the migration as a bag to bring the tent objects or food, this kind of rug, is very important for the identity of the chodor tribe, Many tribal etnic group, often were recognizable thanks to their bags or trappings hanged at the saddle of the horse or camel, were the patterns and motives were just like a sort of flag of the owner. The bag is complete and in mint condition, completely handknotted and handwoven in the back. Quite rare to find the multicolored fringes in their original condition. As chodor, this item has some other Turkmen influences mainly in the border with the so called running dog pattern and in the main the “star” pattern. The field in dark brown is surrounded by two different gul row. The two central “gul” in orange culminating in a ram’s horn motif. While the lateral guls are rich of colors ( quite rare for a Turkmen rug) with other traditional pattern inside. The measurement of this piece is 83 × 41 cm (2' 8" × 1' 4").
