An excellent Antique Uzbek silk suzani dating circa last quarter of the 19th Century. Though such types are often generically called lakai, It is likely made in rural areas around the city of Shahrisabz or Karshi region. It is a very elegant and fine piece. The embroidery is chain-stitched using fine silks with dazzling colours on a brown ground that feels like a silk blend cotton. The prayer arch design with dazzling botehs and meandering vine is really striking. It has original cotton lining and edged with adras Ikat strip. It is in good shape with one old repair near the bottom centre that hardly distracts. Offered at a fair price. Email your questions. size 133cm x 90cm (4'5" x 3').
