Antique Afghan Timuri Baluch rug from Western Afghanistan with Turkmen inspired design.
Circa 1880.
a good Timuri Baluch rug from Western Afghanistan, with repeat diagonal rows of a Turkmen design. The design in soft madder red and indigo blue stand out against the olive brown ground. The olive brown is corroded and leaves the design standing proud in profile. The small narrow borders frame the rug well. Note the original kilim remaining at both ends.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile, there is some dye corrosion to the olive browns, giving it a low pile height.
A good Timuri rug with excellent wool quality and older than most examples.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
