Anatolian antique Kurdish tent divide panel 139 x 95 cm // 4ft 5" x 3ft 2"
This little gem is remaining part of what was once a long panel of approx 4m+ long. Being of antique origin it possesses an expression that later examples lack both in terms of colour combination of the five constituent wool strips and careful design interpretation. Given the white parts are on cotton this might suggest this tribal group came in contact with West Anatolian groups towards the Adana region.
Gertrude Bell acquired one of these sometimes called ' perde 'by dealers in her archaeological tours of Eastern Anatolia and what became Iraq.THis was sold around 5 years ago at a British auction.
