The field design of this long and narrow felt carpet, which once served to cover a floor, consists of four full-format diamonds, their wide outlines merging at the points of intersection. Each of the large devices contains four smaller diamonds with a cruciform interior drawing. All the designs are embroidered in wool yarn. Compared to other Uzbek feltwork, this example is remarkably rich in ornamentation. Another piece of this group is attributed to the Surkhandarya region in the “”Usbekistan”” catalogue. – Signs of age and wear, several moth-damaged areas, patching verso. Made in felted sections then embroidered and joined. Undergoing restoration and refelting of some damaged areas.
