Antique Baluch prayer rug possibly by the Baluch tribes of Turkestan. www.knightsantiques.co.uk Circa 1900. Size: 4ft 0in x 2ft 10in (145 x 91cm). This is a very unusual prayer rug, with the well known box design on a camel coloured ground. The rug is very well drawn with a lot of detail, the knotting is very fine with excellent quality wool. Note the original end finishes with decoration; the use of ivory wool warps is typical of the Turkestan Baluch who have a lot of Turkmen influence in their weaving. The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile. The rug is suitable for light domestic use. Stock Number: ds-0501.
