This Kurdish rug belongs to a group of rugs woven in the Kurdish region in the far North-West of Persia, known as Sa'uj Bulagh. This fine example has two and a half medallions on a camel coloured ground, the field is filled with flowers and other tribal design elements. The main border is of a rich mustard yellow, with the meandering leaf design. The inner and outer guards are of small floral rosettes. The rug is soft wool pile on a wool foundation, giving the rug a very soft floppy handle.
The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile, slightly lower in places.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display, the rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
