This Kurdish rug belongs to a group of rugs woven in the Kurdish region in the far North-West of Persia, known as Sa'uj Bulagh. This fine example has two and a half medallions on a camel coloured ground, the field is filled with flowers and other tribal design elements. The main border is of a rich mustard yellow, with the meandering leaf design. The inner and outer guards are of small floral rosettes. The rug is soft wool pile on a wool foundation, giving the rug a very soft floppy handle. The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile, slightly lower in places.
