This circa 1860 Talish antique rug measures 3’6” x 7’8” (110 x 238 cm). This is a so called Star Talish for obvious reasons. It has eight pointed stars in navy blue, medium blue and ivory on a light red brick colored ground. It has a minor border of red and dark brick stars on an ivory ground followed by the first half of a pair of reciprocal borders of squares with crosses in ivory, black, pale brick and dark red on a variegated dark blue ground followed with a major border of the famous Talish design of chrysanthemums in at least five different colors separated by squares filled with crosses on an ivory ground . Going towards the outer border comes the second half of the reciprocal borders only this one has a red ground instead of blue. The outer border is a dark blue and black arrow head border. The ends and sides are complete. The rug is clean and ready to go. The rug is evenly low and is in essentially perfect condition.
