This circa 1870 Kazak Gendgi Oriental Rug #7372 measures 3’6” x 7’3” (109 x 222 cm). This is one of my favorite kinds of Gendji , the ‘cane’ design. It has eight rows of canes in four different colors. There are two colors of blue, tomato red and ivory. Each row contains repeated stems of flowers. The minor borders are red and green in reciprocal arrowhead motif, all encompassed with a vaguely eagle or rams head design in blue on an ivory ground. The outer border is a lazy s design in tomato red on a blue ground. The rug is full pile with complete ends and sides. It is clean and ready to go.
