This circa 1875 Gallery sized Kazak #8105 measures 4’7” x 10’4”. It has a very strange and complicated design. There are three medallions on a black ground. The medallions contain three different motifs in blue, ivory, red, pale green that is almost gray. The motifs are unique. The ground color looking from one direction is red and from the other direction it appears bright tomato red. If you quarter the medallions and stick them on the side of the field you would have the motif and color of the center medallion. The major border is leaf and calyx (wineglass border). The wine glasses are in blue, ivory, green, and tobacco. The major border is encompassed with a reciprocal border on an ivory ground with snowflakes. (i like to call them snowflakes but they have 8 sections not 6 as a snowflake would). As to the pile of the rug…some of the black is down a little bit to show top of the knots but not much. i could honestly say without fear of retribution that this rug is essentially full pile. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. https://antiqueorientalrugs.com/product/antique-kazak-caucasian-rug-47-x...
