This circa 1870 Borchalou Kazak #7623 with Akstava motif measures 4’1” x 6’8” (125 x 207 cm). This is one of a kind. a Borchalou Kazak with an Akstava Design! It has four peacocks in ivory, sky blue and pale charcoal and ten quadrupeds, each slightly different. The top and bottom of the field is very busy containing eight pointed stars in various sizes and rhomboids which are quartered with varying designs and single blossoms. The center is composed of an absolute Akstava medallion. All this action is taking place on a tomato red ground. The classic black and white border points to a possible Armenian origin with the blacks being corroded pointing to the age of this rug. As with all Armenian rugs, this is very finely woven for a Kazak. The rug is full pile with complete ends and sides. It is clean and ready to go.
