This circa 1875 Mogan #7894 measures 4’2” x 6’10”. It has 18 Memling guls in six rows of three. There is a lot of color in this rug. Red and green on ivory. Auberine and blue on terra cotta. Tobacco and terra cotta. Aubergine and red. Etc. Even the centers are asymmetric. The major border has rectangles with a windmill design on various ground colors in ivory, red, green, terra cotta all on a medium blue ground encompassed with a dog tooth border in ivory and red encompassed with a trefoil border in brown and a dark terra cotta outer dog tooth border. The rug is trying to be in perfect condition but is coming just a little bit short. Shall we say perfect for its age? Good pile. Ends and sides complete. Clean and ready to go.
