Baluch (Timuri?) bag—half khorjin. 22” x 25” (56 cm x 64 cm). One of those Baluch or Timuri pieces that are hard to photograph so that the colors show. In good light the design is stylized plants on dark blue ground in a brownish-purple hexagonal lattice. These images are taken in direct sunlight. The first is straight-on, and doesn’t show colors as well as others that are taken somewhat obliquely. Weave is unusually fine for Baluch. Pile is in good condition all over. It has four small elements in silk, two white and two purple---In one image, my finger is pointing at one of the purple silk spots. These small elements are all at the same level across the face in little triangles in the bases of the plant motifs. Nice goat- or horse hair side binding—mostly intact. Closure panels are flatweave in various solid colors—mostly good condition, but with some wear next to closure slots. Sometime during its previous nomadic life this bag must have worn through at the bottom fold. So it was repaired by simply trimming off the bottom edge of the bag, and binding this new bottom edge with brown overcast, which is also now wearing away. Contact directly at rjemry@gmail.com
