Antique Anatolian Kirsehir village prayer rug of scarce 'Sultan' design.
www.knightsantiques.co.uk
Size: 6ft 4in x 3ft 8in (192 x 112cm).
2nd half 19th century.
An interesting pictorial prayer rug on a soft yellow / camel coloured ground. The design is slightly abstract with an architectural feel, which is unique to the rugs from Kirsehir. The base of the design represents two buildings, with tall columns either side supporting large urns, the central floral design represents carnations. The border is also in a floral and architectural style.
The rug has a very soft and warm colour palette.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. Hand washed and ready for use or display.
The rug would make an excellent wall hanging.
Stock Number: H-551.
