a very interesting Baluch rug with a what appears to be a simple design, but upon study is a complex lattice used to great effect, there are 18 rows of 8 'star in octagon' designs, giving a total of 144, the inside of each octagon is quartered. The octagons are separated by rows of small diamond shaped secondary devices. The colour palette is restricted to madder red, indigo blue, aubergine and ivory; the aubergine is used as the ground colour for the leaf border and also to the field of the rug.
