This circa 1900 Peking Chinese Oriental rug #7305 measures 3’2” x 5’8’. This is a very interesting motif. i have never seen it before. There are three 10 sided medallions, each containing a sprig of flowers and a bird. The flowers in the center medallion are potted and the bird looks like a kiwi, all on a light blue ground. Here is something you don’t see much of in an antique Chinese rug.. a minor reciprocal border with the rams horn motif in ivory and blue. The major border as an ivory ground with a scrolling leaf and flower design with bats for good luck. There are two on each side and one in the center at each end. This is very cute.
