Velvet, Velours Cotelet/Velours de Genes ( Genua.) .First introduced by Kasmiri merchants to Harun al Rashid ( 786-809) in Baghdad during his rule. There are several types of velvet ; chiffon,cisele, crushed,devore/burnout, embossed, hammered,lyons, mirror,nacre, panne, pile on pile/double velvet , plain, poison,utrecht,voided,weddingring/ring velvet.
