This second quarter 19th century Ningxia Chinese Oriental #8226 rug measures 4 foot 7 inches by 7 foot 4 inches. It has a yellow field with medium brown colored stylized flower heads and eight floral wreaths which each circle a yellow flower. The wreaths are composed of a floral motif in ivory and 2 shades of blue with a yellow center. The inner border has an ivory Pearl design on a blue ground. The major border is a modified Greek key design on a yellow ground that matches the field. The floral blue border at the lower end of the rug has six small re-weaves that are at least 100 years old and probably older. There is a larger re-weave that is approximately 1 inch wide by 8 inches long in the blue border. The re-weaves are well done, but of course being 100 years old, the color has changed from dark to a lighter blue. There are a couple of low places in the field in three of the wreath motifs. These are very slightly low. TheAC rug is basically 95% perfect condition. The ends and sides are complete.
