An excellent and very elegant antique 19th century Uzbek Bukhara Suzani, showcasing exceptionally fine silk embroidery on a cotton Karbos ground. Dating around 1860’s, it has exceptionally fine silk chain-stitched embroidery, near microscopic in quality arranged in a mihrab / arch design often referred to as “rojoi”. The design is magnificent with gorgeous floral bouquets arranged one after another meandering across the sides and top to form the arch shape. Each bouquet, has a free flow design with a gorgeous green stem outlined by a golden silks and from each stems three to four rich red with blue detailed flowers. Then the little botehs in blue and apricot outlined in red and blue stem out sporadically. The overall effect is a movement in the design. On each side smaller borders repeat tiny flowers in red and natural purple, outlined in red and blue with green leaves meandering to add to the movement. a gorgeous arch completes the arch near the top with three different bouquets intricately positions. The colours are gorgeous and all derived from natural dyes. In exceptional condition with couple small old repair near the middle empty space, which does not distract the beauty what so ever. Edged with a rich silk warp cotton weft Ikat. Because of the large scale, the photos do not do justice to the beauty. Very fine in real life and worthy of any collection. Offered at a good price.
